Study Tips for the Real Estate License Exam

  1. Be careful in taking advice.

If you're going to request other agents what they remember of the test, ask those that took their real estate license exams in the last few months. Memories hesitate and tests vary, so at least get the most present advice you can.

  2. Check exam training book dates.

Again, tests vary over time with business change and to create this passing on of questions and answers more complicated. Look for available study guides that are recent.

  3. Learn for the test.

You'll have lots of time after you get your license to increase your knowledge and skill. Concentrate of attention now on locating study materials or courses that are considered for "passing the test". If you're taking into consideration a pre-exam prep course, find out their first-time passing success rate. Some provide free re-training if you not make the grade the first time around.

  4. Read it, know it, or skip it.

Good test-taking strategy is to answer the questions you know, while not getting bogged down time-wise on those that you're not certain about. Many are given on computers now, and they habitually make it easier to mark and come back to skipped questions. If you know it, reply it. If you're not sure, go to the next. It may surprise you how a related question further along in the test will facilitate you with the answer to one that you skipped.

  5. The old stand-by advice still works.

The tried-and-true recommendation to get a good night's sleep and arriving early and fresh still applies. It's infrequent that the midnight oil helps if it's the midnight before the test.
